TOPIC: Voluma procedure with Dr. Shafer NYC

I'm posting this here as suggested by others. Had my visit. Was super nervous going in but the staff and Dr Shafer were very comforting, careful and professional, which eased my nerves. Shafer is a high end and experienced plastic surgeon (or at least that's my impression). This procedure seemed extremely common there. I had 10 of voluma which added a half Inch to me on the first day. You can see the pricing on-line. I'm not posting pics. But I can say, to me, this is truly amazing; I am never going back to my old self unless I have to.

And so after the procedure I had no bruising, no bleeding, and moderate swelling. Shafer used a cannula with only two insertion points while Flaccid. He applied a wrap afterward which I used for two days (helped with turtle effect). I had swelling for about 3-5 days, for which Shafer anticipated and prescribed a steroid. I was not given an antibiotic. I had slight pain the first day that gradually dissipated. Now about two weeks in, the voluma has settled. The swelling made it look huge at first, but then reduced. I was initially concerned that I had not gained as much. But then it seemed to absorb water or something because after a few weeks it looked thick again. When Flaccid it feels soft and somewhat apparent to me. When Erect I can barely tell it's there, I'm just thicker and hard. I've had sex with some slight pain along the injection area near the base. The woman I with was small and things were tight; loved it, but took some getting used to. I don't feel a need for more Girth right now. My shape is is smooth, just thicker on the shaft below the glans. My biggest concern is if I will have more pain during sex or if that will subside over time. I guess I never had this issue before lol. Will update later.

Thank you for the update. It sounds like Shafer is a good option for guys looking for HA in the NYC area. So it sounds like the voluma does not feel squishy? Is an additional 1/2 Inch of Girth very noticeable?

Its sort of squishy when Flaccid, but so is your member generally. When Erect, its all hard. I probably gained less than 1/2 after the swelling went away. But yeah, the gain is extremely noticeable, it least to me. You will be surprised how much of a change that is.

Just following up here. After a few months the Girth gain definitely dropped for me. What was a good half Inch (likely just swelling) now is more like an eighth. Pretty pricey for marginal gains, being honest. But I guess this is consistent with what others have seen. I want to get more now but am hesitant if this filler is right for me. Maybe repeat applications help, I don't know.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with HA. Guys, this is precisely why I would never do HA. Way too overpriced for an extremely temporary solution, which is inferior in every way to Ellanse.

I've come to the exact same conclusion.

Even if I was going to try HA there is no way I'd go to these 2 docs in NYC (Shafer and rowe) to pay 7500 USD for 10 ml when I could fly 2 hours to atanta to Morganstern and pay 7100 for 20 ml ... two round trip flights are under $500. Its a no brainer for me.

Yes I agree Shafer is on the high end price wise but I can say his work is top notch for what that's worth anyway. He has skills dealing with fillers.

Just following up here. I went back to Shafer for 10ml more of Voluma. Yes, its pricey, but also generally safe. He opined that my original Voluma was still there, just that the slight gain was what was expected from only 10ml. So I'm currently at 20ml and liking the gains and profile, but probably still swollen somewhat. When Erect it's hard and not squishy at all, at least for me. The dr is doing like 3-5 of these per day, which is amazing. So A LOT of guys are getting this done and most not posting here. Shafer also commented that the skill to inject the correct amount in the correct layer is critical, so experience injecting fillers is key and not easily replicated.

Okay, follow up. I have to say that it took two months for the swelling or water absorption to subside. I think I still have some actually. I'm not making this up. This is likely a personal thing, but it just felt and looked huge for a long time and has only settled off now, two months later. So for me voluma needs ample time to settle. When hard, I also have a distinct and irregular line under the glans where the voluma starts (it wasn't like that initially). I'm am nearly positive this was due to normal retraction, and i don't know how to deal with that other than constant stretching for two months, which is nearly impossible. Then again I'm a Grower so it's likely a personal thing. I still have that line and may need to get that fixed, which may require a needle instead of a cannula (I'm not sure). I also have a ridge of voluma built up at the base due to intercourse. This just happened over time with a smaller partner. Anyway the gains are still fun but the appearance is not perfect.

I met a guy from the forum that spent a lot of money with Shafer. He was not happy with the result.

I have Voluma, a LOT of it and I would recommend PMMA if you want a natural result.

Xfizzle, curious what kind of issues you had with the result. Personally the appearance of mine is off and uneven. I'm not sure this was due to injection. technique though. I think it's entirley due to the voluma moving around after the procedure during a normal day.

I think most doctor will tell you that 10 cc is enough when it's really not. You need at least 25 cc (of course injected 10 at the time 1 month apart).

I feel like some doctors will f*ck you up or give you an unfinished result so you go back to them ????

I personally started to be happy when I had 40 cc in. But looking at it today I wish I had done PMMA

Same. Mine was uneven and i had some movement after the first round with Shafer.
