I think the question was posed as what to say to friends/family/work.

The border guards dont care, and dont tell your friends where youre going. Dont over think it. All times I did mine no one even knew I left town.

I guess it would help to know how far you are traveling. I mean, are you coming from outside the US? That would be a tougher situation.
Otherwise, I would think it would be easy to come up with a reason you may be MIA for a couple of days. But that is going to be dependent on your lifestyle/situation. Another question is if you even have to tell them you are going in the first place?

I'm anticipating any sort of challenges in booking a flight to visit Dr. C. A minor one is coming up with a story. I could just say a vacation, but people would be surprised I chose Tijuana as a vacation destination. They would probably assume I was up to something. I also have a lot of friends who would probably wonder why I didn't invite them. I could insist I want a solo trip and probably be fine, but I was just curious if anyone came up with something particularly clever.
