TOPIC: Upcoming surgery
Upcoming surgery
1 year 4 weeks ago #1308721994I am pretty nervous about it given the results of the last surgery that was supposed to be easy. This doctor is a different doctor and I interviewed multiple doctors, including the ones y’all suggested, and this one made the most sense. If this doesn’t work, I can always deploy it which was the solution of the other four doctors. Once that’s done there’s nothing else that can be done to make it different/better. So at least I have one option before that. I’m posting a couple of pictures so y’all can see before and after. These are the before. Soft and hard.
I’d considered just leaving it and then I did an experiment. I posted the pictures on a hook up site after I made contact with multiple guys 15 to be exact. Three said no way that they would touch it. The other 12 said it wouldn’t bother them and then wondered what happened to it. Then it came down to "come on over. .." And suddenly all 12 of them either ghosted me, blocked me, or we’re kind enough to say actually it would bother me. So 100% rejection rate out of 15 people. That helped me make my decision about the surgery.
It’ll happen Friday morning, he said I should be able to go to work on Monday. I just sit… I’m at Therapist. And if it’s still painful, which I doubt given the Loss of sensitivity that I have and the other didn’t hurt either and it was awful. I think I’ll be fine. I don’t want to jeopardize the graft though so I can do sessions from home virtually sans pants...
these pictures were taken last week
I’m an atheist but feel free to send thoughts and prayers HA HA

1 year 3 weeks ago #1308722014They specialize in those Megaderm grafts though. There was also a video where they explain the procedure and how they cut the graft to size.

Re: Upcoming surgery
1 year 3 weeks ago #1308722031very painful this time. The disastrous surgery back in January looked so much worse, but almost no pain at first. I got lots of pain meds in the hospital and I’m now at home resting.

1 year 2 weeks ago #1308722121You have to remember, no two reconstruction cases are exactly the same. Outcomes vary and are unpredictable. Keep things clean and dry, take antibiotics if prescribed, have pts.

Re: Upcoming surgery
1 year 2 weeks ago #1308722122Interestingly, this “surgery “which was really just a wound/scar Revision has hurt more than the disaster in January where I was mutilated. I had multiple skin punctures as well as loss of skin, etc. I believe it was a lot of nerve damage that has been healing the last six months which I’m grateful for. Even before this, it looked bad soft and went hard, the indentation part was the only thing that looked horrible and was getting rejections for. Some of the lumpiness that you see is swelling flatten out when it’s hard.
This doctor has been really good about setting expectations and has been really sympathetic. Dr Hudak at UT. Southwestern in Fort Worth has also been very upfront and sympathetic, so if anyone needs a penile reconstructive surgeon in the Fort Worth area, he’s trained by Dr. Morey, who is considered one of the best in this part of the country. He’s basically the same level as Dr Carney. I forget the connection, but I believe they had some similar training from the same program, etc..
I would’ve happily gone to him, but he only does degloving. My current doctor is the only one who suggested this approach. I may end up with degloving, but I wanted to try something before that given there’s nothing left after a deep loving to do and the potential Loss of up to 30% of my size from degloving, as well as still being deformed looking.
This has honestly been the worst experience in my life and I don’t know how I’ve survived it other than support from you and others my close friends. I can’t imagine surviving another disaster like this so I’m hopeful that nothing else goes wrong.
