I'm absolutely amazed no one who's had hardened PMMA has tried Collagenase, if in theory it dissolves or reduces collagen as you mentioned.
You said it potentially has some bad side effects but are the side effects really as bad as the mess you were left with after they cut it out?
In the UK Collagenase is '1600 / $2k I think anyone with severely hardened PMMA should try this.

We need to find a solution for PMMA reactions and granulomas.
If we could find something that would immediately reverse any issues with PMMA it would be the holy grail. It is possible that something like this exists, whether it be some kind of injectable solution or even some kind of laser technique or anti inflammatory.
It might sound far out but 5 years ago there was only 1 way to remove lumps of fat which was cutting it out, now there is lippodisolve and a whole host of other products that dissolve them and Dr Morgernstern can remove them with ease.
Superman has been going to a PMMA doctor in Italy who has 10 clinics offering PMMA, once we know his name we should ask him if he has any experience with PMMA reactions and if he has any solutions.
