That is what Dr. Reed told me 5 years ago when he was using the cups that are similar to Elist's. He tested several patients 6 months after surgery and their sperm counts and testosterone levels went down. It makes sense because the testes are normally at a lower temperature than the rest of the body and the cups must retain heat.
After learning this he said he won't do them now on anyone with normal sized testes or anyone wishing to have children in the future. He only does them on guys whose testes are no longer functioning due to age, injury or testosterone use. I think instead of cups he is using solid silicone implants these days.
