Just spoke with RN Wade. 7 days. Yes, that's right, after seven days you will not be jeopardizing the success nor outcome of the procedure by having sex. It is fine.

I didn't really have the urge to masturbate for at least a week post-op, I think my penis was too swollen to care for play. This may not be true for everyone.
You may end up finding that your unit will tolerate sex and/or masturbation as early as 2-3 weeks, but the need to make certain sacrifices are well worth it in this particular case.
Not sure how long you've been following the Phalloplasty scene, but there have been a number of people in the past who ignored the recommendations of their doctors and faced undesirable consequences. You get to beat off for the rest of your life, so 3-6 weeks could very well be worth a "smooth ride."
I suspect as time goes on you'll begin to know when your penis is ready for action, but just be as cautious & patient as possible. I personally felt I was okay to have sex at Week 3, but again, better safe than sorry.

There's a poll under the polls forum on this from the results, it doesn't look like anyone's waiting 6 weeks....

I had a lengthy conversation with Wade regarding 10% concentrations and have good news to share. I'm swamped with work this weekend but will post soon. I also agree that patience is a virtue. Myself, I'll be waiting; allowing the induction of collagen to take place which according to Wade is complete at six weeks. There have been many mixed/conflicting reports regarding the postoperative timeframe for which collagen formation occurs. Wade said to expect minimal or NO growth after the six week period. We discussed my goals, this forum, complications and future protocol. I don't believe I've ever had a discussion with Wade short of 45 minutes. Have a great weekend brothers and for those that received 10% and experienced less than stellar growth, don't be discouraged. Round 2 will make a HUGE difference.

I know of members reporting sex sooner than 6 weeks, but I'd go with M7's asserted recommendation because in all my years following Phalloplasty, the saying "better safe than sorry" rings so true!

You will hear a few different opinions about when one can have sex after PMMA. There are two points to be concerned with: the entry point have to be closed up to prevent infection from having sex. The other point is the settlement f the PMMA beads, and that can take a few days but less than a week. I venture to say it may take no more than two days for the PMMA to set in its place unless some deliberate action was taken to move it.

Having said that, and I am not an expert, why would anyone take a chance and ruin their penis and waste their hard earned money just to have sex or masturbate too early?

Sex will be best AFTER one waits a few weeks after PMMA, I always have believed that: "Patience is a Virtue"

Dr. Samy Passy (in Brazil) told me to wait around 6 weeks before I can have sex.

If everyone jumped of a cliff... would you? Please be responsible and wait the six weeks. I promise you'll still want to have sex after you've healed and you may forgo unnecessary complications by waiting.

I'm not sure if Dr. C is adamant about any # of weeks post-op... as a matter of fact he had once responded to someone (albeit a while ago) that it could be ready for sex as soon as the swelling and bruising subsided (1 week usually) - can't recall what his current position is on the matter.
I think the lesson here is to be smart, and to take the "rather be safe than sorry" route when possible. I have had members tell me they have had sex as early as 1-2 weeks post-op without issue. But some have waited longer.

I can't see why one would have to wait 6 weeks with PMMA. There is no grafting or suturing involved. Obvioulsy the best thing to do is chech with Dr C, but once any bruising or swelling has gone, then I can't see any reason not to have sex. I'd probably wait a week or two to make sure everything has settled down, but I really can't see any reason to wait the same length of time one does with a grafting procedure, when personally I'd say 6 weeks is even too soon. If Dr C says 6 weeks than I'd yield to his greater knowledge, but I'd be interested to know why he says this.
