That being said, here comes the airplane! Yes, you have to have a passport. Not to get into Mexico, but to get back into the States. I hear of some people risking it with birth certificate and ID, but I wouldn't. According to the US government, a passport is required. There are no payment plans, financing or credit cards. Don't forget to include other miscellaneous costs in your budget: Ie: Shuttle, Meds, for you.. passport, food, hotel, plane tickets, couple days off work, etc. + cost of procedure which is more on your first couple of visits I believe. I'd get the passport man. However, I think it's relevant for me to mention I'm a 6 ft tall white guy with blonde hair and blue eyes so I obviously look out of place in Tijuana. I had no problem with CBP.
