TOPIC: soma's bella to pmma

Smartman, Dr C asked the same question regarding the local temperature, and thankfully it is not markedly different than the surrounding tissue. I will take the course of antibiotics for 15 days. Thanks for you advice and concern. There are many things in my favor: entry holes closed almost immediately after surgery, the last closing within 48 hours, never and sign of infection near entry holes, the fever has now stopped, I'm very healthy and exercise quite frequently....I'm mean really healthy, like triathlete healthy, tissue on entire left side of penis healing the same way it did after round 1, issues on the right side mid shaft and towards the glans (I don't really understand whats going on there...tissue feels much harder and healing much slower) but medial to that healing the same as round one even on the right side (with the exception of the inflamed red fluid retained area directly over my Bella scar), circumference slowly shrinking (believe me folks I'm praying for it to go down). That said, you read the other issues that have me EXTREMELY concerned and I appreciate everybody's support.

I would avoid the followings for around 4-6 wks and not less :-
Trauma to the penis e.g. any type of penile exercises, massaging and sex too.

Sounds like you're body is going in the right direction as far as the signs & symptoms are concerned, and I'm sure it helps to be as healthy as you are.
I really admire you sharing this with us, especially being a member who has undergone multiple PE procedures. Anytime this stuff can be shared, others in the dark about their own symptoms may have something to refer to. This forum is certainly no substitute for a doctor, but documenting our journeys can definitely help point those in the dark in the right direction.
If you don't mind sharing, what kind of antibiotics are you taking? Thanks again!

Pardon me, just noticed you had said Dr. R called you up some augmentin and cipro...are you taking both?

Soma- Cool man. Glad you got pro-active and sounds like things are settling. I'm happy for you and know it's all good from here on out. Happy healing! I'm expecting good things from a triathlete! Kudos.

You have my number I believe. If you need to talk let me know. Dealing with a few Bella issues now myself. The stress of issue(s) is something I have dealt with. It is stressful in a way only people who have gone through issues understand. I am glad you are getting a lot of support from the group. In the past much of my frustration could likely have been alleviated if I could have just reached out to someone and not felt strange or embarrassed. It sounds like you are headed in the right direction. Please do not stop taking the antibiotic early if things look fine. It is usually better to take a few unnecessary doses...though I also know how yucky they can make you feel. I work from home so dealing with issues is easier (not easy, easier). Hope you are able to get time off. Try to rest well and eat really well and drink water (i.e. give your body and immune system the power it needs to pull you through). Not an expert on ibuprofen but I had heard the anti-inflam properties come with 800mg doses (4 OTC = same exact thing as a Dr. Rx'd 800 mg capsule). That said I defer to Dr. R here.
I am looking forward to reading about how well you are doing in the next few weeks...

SO, Yes I'm taking both as prescribed and won't stop till they run out (15 days total). Marginal improvement in implant towards the glans (very slight). The fluid filled area under bella scar remain and is itchy (I'm not scratching it) but same temp as surround tissue. Other "issues": The gain from this second procedure is significant. I'm not doing precise measurements (before after) but I've gained what I think is at least .75 from this 2cnd procedure, acknowledging that some swelling is still there. Nighttime Erection can feel painful....like in a tight way if that makes any sense, similar to how they felt after the Bella surgery. Hoping this resolves soon; I also wish these fluid/possible infection resolves soon so that I can start Hanging again as I believe this helps create room/stretch out the tissue. My base is enormous, well over 7.25 (measuring away from the swollen area) and mid shaft is a solid 6.5+ Erect.

Ok, a little freaked out again. This thing just perforated and thick pinkish fluid is coming out (quite a mess). The penis itself looks ok but the area of trapped fluid has burst. I have a call in to both docs but it's after 9 and don't think they'll get back to me. No fever and taking my meds religously-

Soma, sorry that is happening. If I were you, I would immediately go to an emergency room, regardless if it will be embarrassing. I'm a traveling registered nurse, and it sounds like you have something very serious going on.
Of course, this is only a suggestion. I hope things get better for you.

Update: Dr Rosenthal called me back....again, what great guy! Advised me this is the body's way of getting rid of the fluid and to keep the area dry (extremely cautioned me NOT to get the area wet), and to let it drain, change the dressing frequently until draining stops. He's confident the antibiotics I'm taking are sufficient but that if it's still draining on Monday to go get it cultured to find out exactly what bug it is. By the way, the fluid didn't smell at all-

Soma, glad you got to talk to Dr. Rosenthal. However, I am suggesting that you do not only take his word, or any other doctors word if you only talk to them on the phone. If you haven't already, you need to see a doctor in real life besides just on the phone.
I'm not trying to worry you or anything, but this is serious business you're dealing with. Again, wish you good luck.

Rothenthall's a class act but I agree with Tulsaguy...You have only one penis...Best to err on the side of caution...

Fyi All,
I'm currently at the Mayo clinic being treated. They're going to CT my pelvis to see where this abscess might extend to. Drainage has stopped but still fluid in there-
